Understand the product
What Index Insure is, the problem it solves, and how index-based livestock insurance works end to end.
Turning satellite drought data into parametric livestock insurance, from earth-observation signals to a priced product, a quote, and a payout.
Index Insure is a platform for index-based (parametric) livestock insurance. It watches satellite measurements of drought across pastoral areas, turns them into an objective drought index, prices the risk, and produces the quotes, term sheets, and payouts that protect herders when a season fails.
This documentation describes Index Insure as one product, what it does and how to operate it, without assuming any technical background. It is organised in four layers:
| Section | Answers |
|---|---|
| Understanding Index Insure | What is this, and who is it for? |
| How it works | How does the drought-to-payout model actually work? |
| Using Index Insure | How do I carry out each task? |
| Reference | What does this term mean? |
